OUR ELEVEN CHIEF JUSTICES

A readable, interesting biographical study of the men who have held the post of chief justice of the Supreme Court. Through this medium we have a survey of the growth of the country, and another angle on the changing character of the Court, and its contribution to the national picture. There is some biographical data of each man, but this is subordinate in interest to the appraisal on the man in his work, his social significance, through his biases and his viewpoint on law. Anecdotal. Good reading.
