KIRKUS REVIEW

It's a pleasure to run into Mole and Ratty whatever the occasion, and Adrienne Adams' lovely crisp scenes glow with their delight in spring and the river. But fitting out the leisurely first chapter of The Wind in the Willows with sixteen or so color illustrations doesn't make it a picture book--and Adams' accompaniment, however charming and harmonious, tends to reduce, rather than extend, the adventure.
