It’s cold, wet and snowy outside, and a school bus is stuck on a hill. Can an unassuming red tow truck make it through the mud, flooding and foul weather, and then up the incline to save the day? Children waiting by the bus at the side of the road act as cheerleaders for this little-tow-truck-who-could and wait for its appearance with bated breath. Crisp, rhyming and straightforward text (“Can Red Truck make it up the hill? Red Truck CAN! Red Truck WILL!”), liberally splashed with onomatopoeia (“Zoooom!” “Sploooosh!” “Vrooooom!”), describes the truck’s valiant efforts, and vibrant, colorful illustrations will draw young listeners in and make them right at home. Endpapers that show Red Truck zooming on its way add a clever, finishing touch. (Picture book. 2-5)
