KIRKUS REVIEW

A small bit of fantasy with humor and comfort, as Pinky Harrison, Corporal, is killed trying to get his first German, and finds himself transported to Heavenly Bend Junction, the first stopping off place for newcomers who are still too attached to earth to go on. Through the telescope available to all who are curious about their people back on earth, he learns that his newborn baby is failing fast. But God, who has been out of contact with the world since the war, takes a special interest in Pinky, Aries to save the baby, and when that fails, sends the baby back to the earth as a miracle to restore the faith in Him. Slight -- popularly styled.
