THE HAPPY DAYS

Sang Chun, the Korean orphan boy, remembers how ardently his mother looked forward to the ""happy days"". But her premature death as a result of an accident on the seaweed covered rocks leaves it to him to bring about the ""happy days"". And for Sang Chung they are hard won, as his dream of building a village school is only accomplished through the travail of the village children and the death of his little cousin, Koo. Athur Marokvia's sensitive illustrations enhance this tender and engrossing story of the struggles of a Korean and the difficult but rewarding aspects of Asiatic life.
