Six of these seven short stories have appeared in British magazines between the years 1955 and 1962. The title story, Court of Inquiry and I Spy Strangers are concerned with the rampant rivalries within a British Signal unit just after the war and the best story of this group is My Enemy's Enemy -- or the case of the uncommitted intellectual, from whose viewpoint the story is cleverly told. Moral Fibre is a kind of tract on the moral ambiguities of social work; Interesting Things is a slight treatment of a young girl on a date with an ""older man""; All the Blood Within Me presents a futile character who discovers that his life-long love was not the perfect creature he imagined; and the final story, Something Strange, is an effective piece of science Fiction. The merit of the stories has already been established. They would probably appeal more to the Amis fan, however, than to the generally interested reader of short stories.
