Finding proof of army property that has been misappropriated, Strick exploits the position in which his rash acts land him, film a bulwark in anti-National Socialist, adherents. He is able, when there is an attempt to assassinate Hitler, to organize for complete control of the garrison, only to find the tables turned again when the state of emergency is cancelled and the resistance movement killed. A seriocomic interpretation of events, the surprise element here is sometimes angry, sometimes farcical, but generally human.
