Publisher: Hyperion

Where, indeed, is the appealing tiny dragon that we met in Anna and the Little Green Dragon (1992)? Here, he seems to be pushing through a jungle—though perhaps the green stuff is vegetables. Is he in a garden? Whence, then, this monstrous fishy mouth? And where on earth could he climb a pitted golden cliff, only to come out among icicles? The satisfying answers are revealed when his friend Anna opens the family fridge and finds him happily settled in the chocolate pudding. The alternative point of view on these homely details is entertainingly exploited in Baumgart's spare watercolors, where close-ups give the groceries intriguing new identities. With its growing puzzlement along the way and surprise ending: a good choice for the preschool group. (Picture book. 4-8)
