A decade after a pregnancy scare drove two up-and-coming chefs apart, a TV show offers them the opportunity to begin again.

Ten years ago, a positive pregnancy test spurred Mia and Camden to get married, but when she discovered it was a false positive, she packed her things, wrote him a note, and got a quick divorce. Driven mainly by youth and insecurity—after all, how could a hottie like Camden care for a heavy girl like her?—Mia walked away from the only man she’d ever loved, determined to let him find a woman who deserved him. Now Mia is the genius chef behind Seduction, Portland’s hot new restaurant, which she owns with her four best friends. One of them is married to Trevor, a TV producer who thinks Mia would be great on camera and sets up a pilot with Camden, now a celebrity chef. Mia’s friends are shocked when they learn about her past with Camden, but working together again, Mia and Camden find they still have blazing chemistry. They can both admit to themselves that their feelings are still there, but they struggle to share them with each other. Camden is frustrated by Mia’s penchant for putting herself down and her inability to ask for what she wants. Despite her success, Mia still suffers body insecurity and doesn’t trust that Camden truly wants her. Proby’s (No Reservations, 2017, etc.) writing, worldbuilding, and storytelling are strong, and the community Mia’s built around herself is compelling. Camden is an all-round great guy and seems so laid back that we wonder how he ever made it big. An engaging read despite lacking an intense conflict beyond what could easily be solved through simple communication.

Sexy, fun, and touching.
