RESOLVING SOCIAL CONFLICTS

An interesting collection of essays, written through the years by a psychologist, but extending beyond his field into sociological subjects, and applied to the group rather than the individual, to rather particular problems. The difference between the U.S. and Germany, as indicated through the concept of freedom, the system of education; cultural reconstruction after the war and the obstacles which prevent the imposition of a new culture on an old; democratic vs autocratic leadership; time perspective and group morale; minority problems and the raising of the Jewish child, etc., often technical in its formulae reasoning, sporadic in coverage; rather confined in appeal.
