THE SEVEN SOVIET ARTS by Kurt London

THE SEVEN SOVIET ARTS

By

Publisher: Yale

An excellent reference book, but not a book for the casual reader. It certainly should be read by those interested in our own federal theatre and art projects. A survey of the intellectual landscape in Russia and the rebirth of cultural and artistic life. Deals with the individual arts as well as artist organizations, art training, cultural principles of the Soviet. The author sees Russia outstripping the rest of the world in bringing art to her people, but at the same time he sees the dangers of rigidity of control by the state. The book has an inspirational note -- the author feels there is hope for the human race in this vast awareness of the arts. A definite contribution to the literature on Soviet Russia.
