TWO AGAINST THE ARCTIC by Kurt Lutgen

TWO AGAINST THE ARCTIC

By

Publisher: Pantheon

The awful white ruthlessness of the Arctic rises before the reader's eyes with such acuteness in this rescue story that it becomes a leading character. How two determined men, Jarvis and Dr. MacAllen, dared the Arctic's worst hazards in 1893 to aid 275 men imprisoned by ice in the Bering Sea is compellingly told in this translation from the original German. The wiliness of the Eskimo in overcoming the Arctic's worst hazards also makes fascinating reading. It was a prize winner on the continent; it's easy to see why.
