KIRKUS REVIEW

In a luxuriously produced book, twenty-four reproductions of Manet's water colors and pastels are matted in a manner which renders them suitable for framing. Although many of the works are familiar because of their radical subject matter -- Dejeuner sur Les Herbes, Olympia-- the full impact of these works is captured in the meticulous fidelity of these reproductions to Manet's use of light and color. A bibliography and careful biographical and critical notes which refer to other versions of the paintings herewith shown, make this a complete and uniquely enjoyable addition to the shelves of any serious collection of art books.
