DEADLY OBJECTIVES

Joe Jamison, Dept. of Defense computer-whiz and UFO hobbyist (Only Half a Hoax, Footnote to Murder), is a cheerful sort--so he's not too upset by the temporary kidnapping of the Department's latest piece of high-tech equipment, nicknamed ""Aunt Yuk."" When Joe's wife Karen and young son Joey are also soon kidnapped, however, he goes into serious action--exploring every lead with the help of co-worker Lars Pederson (a genius) and old pal Mack Forrester (a cop). And, after much futile sleuthing, this trio realizes that Karen's capture has nothing to do with the Department's industrial sabotage: it's really connected to some elderly crazies in the UFO movement--and to an unoriginal con-game, soon foiled by the good guys. . . while the industrial spy declares himself and the kidnap-ees are safely recovered. Bright action with a light touch, featuring a hero who grows more attractive with each outing: modest, genial entertainment.
