KIRKUS REVIEW

Exciting things can happen in a small town, too. Scott Prentice is sure that life will be dull when he and his family must move to Chinook. But Old Jules Linderman who had swindled a number of people out of their farm holdings provides enemity, while suspicion of murder, endless clues involve Scott and Jules' nephew, Jan, in the attack with a lead-filled bamboo cane. The key to the mystery and the cane is solved by the two boys, and their friendship promises a happy future to Scott, his brother and their other new friends. Nothing special, but adequate.
