GERMAN FAMILY

An English widow marries a German Jew after the war, her daughter marries his young brother. They live happily, with a large clan of relatives, in Frankfort and Cologne, until the political situation breaks up the group, the Hitler Jewish persecution eventually driving them all out of Germany. A tender presentation of the many German Jewish characters, making the growing horror under which they are forced to live all the more effective. From the accepted British post-war occupation, through the many political changes to Hitler's sweeping power, it is a good picture of Germany's internal troubles and their effects on the lives of these German Jews. Of current interest, anti-Nazi, and good reading.
