For too long has the study of theology been an almost incomprehensible dialogue or encounter between theologians who seem to have little regard for and less understanding by the average Christian. Christian teaching, on the other hand, has too often been a matter of vain repetitions of the amateur and superficial sort which scarcely leads the pupil to make that venture of faith which claims the surrender of his life to God. There must be theology, even at the kindergarten level, and there must be teaching at every age level which will relate the truth of theology to vital living in today's world. Dr. Harold de Wolf, both teacher and theologian, now professor of theology at Boston University School of Theology, has written this book to help resolve this dilemma. He knows from experience at what age levels and in what way the concepts of God, Christ, Holy Spirit, Church, World and Man may best be taught, and his suggestions as to both method and material deserve careful consideration by all who are sharing in the difficult, but rewarding task of Christian education.
