KANGAROO COOLAROO

Of unusual interest because of the authentic Australian background and the wealth of information about kangaroos and their habits. Coolaroo grew up in a kangaroo ""mob"" in southern Australia. He learned everything young kangaroos should know -- how to interpret the leader's warnings, how to swing out of his mother's pouch, and how to recognize enemies. However, life in the protection of the mob did not tell him everything. Coolaroo takes a solitary excursion and learns about other animals, kangaroos and man, to come back and be a leader of the mob. To be sure, Coolaroo speaks excellent kangaroo English, and shows an unusual degree of meditative talent -- and the election of a leader by a formal boxing match may sound dubious, -- but the kangaroo lore together with the appealing drawings of Joyce Horn should intrigue young animal fanciers.
