Reads lightly but well, this story of six who arrive in America via the same ship, and whose lives interlock again on shore to provide romance and a spyhunt. There is Bill, journalist assigned to do a story on the luxury refugees, a story which turns up a hornet's nest; there is Maria, foreign agent unsuspected; there are the Rudenheimere, older, broken, he a famous psychiatrist who finds no opening in the new world, and she who gives Bill the lead he needs on the espionage cabal; and Mary, an English girl bringing a small niece to safety, and with whom Bill falls in love. A little overdressed and superficial, but satisfactory light fare.
