KIRKUS REVIEW

Are you a city product with a yen to go back to the farm (of which you know nothing)? If so, read this. Every constructively discouraging aspect of the problem is presented, in matter-of-fact, and occasionally humorous vein (for the author, while knowing all the pitfalls, still thinks it his choice of a way of life). But it is the best deterrent for the over-optimistic prospective farmer that I have seen. If all the hurdles he so carefully outlines can be taken, go to it. Important contribution to the country life -- to be or not to be -- shelf. (Selection -- finances -- additional costs of conditioning and upkeep -- illusions, etc. etc.
