Adapted from the story by Miguel de Cervantes, this is a successful rewriting of the gay, poignant classic. Excellent cutting, editing, rewriting with the fine, rich flavor of the original retained. This should have wide appeal as a classic made available to younger readers. The delightful illustrations by Warren Chappell make this a charming gift item as well as an addition to libraries and schools. This volume fills an old need, for it was the young people that made Cervantes famous in his own time and only the ponderousness of the complete translations has kept it from its proper modern audience.
