A companion volume to The First Book of Painting (1960, J-157), Lamont Moore again makes his analysis of form, building materials and aesthetic components directly from full-page photographic illustrations and reproductions of interiors by famous designers. The book is divided into five sections -- ""Architecture for Worship,- Living,- Earning,- Governing, and Pleasure and learning"". High school students are given a full view of how architecture reflects the values and styles of each era of history, ranging from the Prehistoric through the of Versailles to the Guggenheim Museum.
