An effervescent account of the movie star's secondary career as baseball wife with the current champions of the National League which began four years ago when her husband, Leo Durocher, was unexpectedly named manager of the senior loop baseball club in New York. The concentration is on the distaff, domestic side of the national pastime and there's a running chatter on happy and disastrous marriages, the place of a wife in a ball player's life, the agonies of a hot pennant race as undergone in the wives' Section 19 of the stands, etc. etc. There's a lot too about her life with ""The Lip"", who turns out to be a surprisingly quiet and gentle man in the confines of the home. Some of the material is new; some of it is a warm up of cold diamond legend. Devotees.
