GOLDBERG'S DIET CATALOG by Larry Goldberg

GOLDBERG'S DIET CATALOG

By

Pub Date: Oct. 1st, 1977
Publisher: Macmillan

The formerly wide-girthed proprietor of Goldberg's Pizzeria speaks the simple truth about dieting: ""There is a lot of pain involved. A lot of pain. I can't stress that enough."" Goldberg is of the try-any-regime-that-works-for-you persuasion (subject to a doctor's O.K.) and the sources here couldn't be more eclectic. Moreover, ""there are no value judgments on any of the information in the Catalog."" Choose among: the low-calorie diet, the ""exchange diet,"" assorted ""miracle"" diets, nibblers' diets, high-protein diets, diets that promote fructose, fiber, or whathaveyou. Also: 14-day diets, inch-reducing diets, teenage diets or dieting with the aid of hypnosis, religion, vegetarianism, or gourmet foods. Goldberg lists all of them, along with the books that'll help you shed your load. For those who enjoy collecting pamphlets there are lists of suppliers--from the Diabetes Association to Dannon Yogurt. For those who like to eat out, a list of slimming restaurants and for those who can only lose weight in company there are resorts, spas, human development centers--even acupuncture clinics. A resource book done with wit and no little imagination.
