KIRKUS REVIEW

The various groups of the string family are described here in technical and historical perspective -- the harp, piano, guitar, and violin -- and are accompanied with clearly illustrated instructions of how to reproduce simplified versions of each. This approach represents an interesting deviation in the study of music, though one, which, at least on the surface, appears to place rather stringent demands on the young reader's aptitude.
