ENCHANTING JENNY LIND

A delightful biography of the Swedish nightingale, probably by all odds, the most popular singer ever known to two continents. I liked particularly the warmly human picture of her early years. Inevitably, the chapters recounting her successive triumphs, -- Berlin, Muzich, Paris, London, and other cities of Europe; then across the Atlantic, under the management of the wily P. T. Barnum, to New York, Boston, Baltimore, as far south as New Orleans, as far west as St. Louis, -- these chapters are somewhat less intimate, somewhat closer to the journalistic record.
