This is the third one of Laura Conway's slight and malleable romances in which Ann, a writer, seems to be repeating the experiences of her Victorian forebear Annis who had left a ""journal"" behind which she is extending into book form. But there are other hard to explain convergences -- particularly since each loves a man with a neurasthenic wife -- a love acknowledged by marriage in the happier ending. Perfectly pleasant in its undemanding fashion and like other forms of time travel, here today and gone tomorrow.
