DEBBIE JONES by Laura Cooper Rendina

DEBBIE JONES

By

Publisher: Little, Brown

A sequel to Reommates with the ever-popular boarding-school setting- for a predictable, devoted audience. This time some of the more sticky aspects of boarding school are treated -- a hearty crush on a male teacher, a reciprocated possessive affection for a young female teacher, and the tremulous ups and downs of girl-and-girl friendships. However, due to the Saturday morning freshness of Debby the heroine, these normal, inevitable emotional tangles are merely background prods to Debbie's maturing process. Also, after some last minute shuffling with Debbie's lonely route, Shelley, Debbie and the newly discovered Peter, a boy her own age, are on the way to steady dating. A full-dimensioned story with a glimpse of faculty jealousies, which may make those beleaguered ones squirm, but of which boarding school teen-agers are fully aware. The author has turned boarding school inside out, but even with a seem showing here and there, this is a delightful book.
