KIRKUS REVIEW

The author of Hannah Courageous (which dealt with Underground Railroad problems), has written another Civil War story, this time a story of the inner struggle between the Copperheads and the Unionists, in border states, where the war was made more bitter by doubt as to closest friends and members of one's family. The young hero of the tale is the son of the miller, an officer in the Union army, and he is called upon to prove his courage and his loyalty many times. Good adventure, and good historical data. Miss Long writes easily and tells a good story.
