A lymphatic light romance (the pulse beat must be in the 60's) about a Minnesota lakeside summer, some fine upstanding youngsters, and Anne, 19, very poised when first seen in her small blue hat. Ross, who is a lifeguard, and Anne, who works at a camp, become close, although Anne has recently broken off an engagement. Activities shared (dancing, fishing, etc.) do not mean a lifetime since at the end of the summer Anne's former engagement is renewed. Most of the book is very uneventful (except for one incident when a camper gets lost) but the tone is salubrious.
