KIRKUS REVIEW

Although the techniques employed by the coast guard services of the coastal nations are essentially the same and involve comparable equipment, the heavy concentration on sea rescue operations and their history around the British Isles may not prove to be easily imported to our readers. The likely (and limited) audience is young men aiming at careers in the U.S. Coast Guard who are hungry for more technical descriptions of rescue work. These are given in abundance together with information on navigational and rescue equipment. There is a list of coast guarding services around the world and their thumbnail histories.
