THE VILLA OF THE FERROMONTE

This is for those who once read Robert Nathan as well as some of those that couldn't -- a personable whimsy in which Norman Dickens, attractive but still unattached, keeps time-traveling back to the period when his aunts were young in Italy -- the once gilded Gould sisters of the villa Ferromonte. Now they are living alone and unattended ""like stuffed owls in a junk shop"" -- smoking pot or sipping cheap muscatel. But every time Norman goes to see them, it's avanti Ferromonte and he finds that he's been returned to that elegant estate where he has fallen in love. . . . Agreeable summery stuff as light as Champale.
