THE LEGACY OF TOM DOOLEY

This is the story of the men and women who carry on the work of the late Dr. Dooley through the TADF (Thomas A. Dooley Foundation) which was established by Mrs. Dooley in 1961. At present the TADF maintains projects in Laos, Vietnam, Nepal, Tibet, India -- hospitals, a mobile X-ray unit, a nurse-midwife training program, nurseries, orphanages. All small operations, these efforts of the ""private enterprise version of the Peace Corps"" have attracted a devoted group of mainly young people. This account includes a smattering of biographies, always heartbreaking case histories of patients, and always the money problems. Uncritically in awe of the work and the TADF workers, the author has obviously tailored this tribute to future fund raising campaigns of the Foundation, and presumably this will be further inspirational reading to the Tom Dooley following.
