THE OTHER AMERICA by Lawrence Griswold

THE OTHER AMERICA

By

Publisher: Putnam

This book, surveying each South American country separately, is more a book for the traveler- than the student. Green's Our Latin American Neighbors (reviewed on the preceding page) considers largely the history, temperament and attitudes of the South Americas. Griswold, amplifying guide book information, condensing much general information, gives a complete but concise picture of each country. History, geography, government, social life, where to go and what to see, travel media, resources, crops, trade, health problems, chief cities, etc. The opening and closing chapters deal with our relations with South America, and show that we must take economic steps toward ""good neighborliness"", and not rely on gestural good will. And he suggests ways to integrate an American continental system. Good all round job.
