As the nervy title suggests, this ""informal encyclopedia,"" consisting of about 200 A (Alabama, University of) to Z (zone defense) entries, takes a quick run through rules, plays, player profiles, team histories, techniques, and what have you. It comes complete with players' photos, play diagrams, and boxed anecdotes for its most likely audience, the non-linear browser who's no more serious about football than about reading.
