Lazar and Olinda Cedeno, former ballet dancers, developed this program in their Manhattan studio, and it got good reviews from pregnant women. Here, in addition to some forgettable introductory remarks written as if the woman has read no other book on pregnancy, is a series of 25 exercises intended to be done sequentially without interruption: rhythm is important, in breathing and in body movement. The regimen is fairly reliable and not, for basically fit women, too strenuous; it emphasizes the important Kegel exercise and some abdominal muscle strengtheners to assure lower back support. Three others are included for the newly delivered. The Cedenos are no authorities on pregnancy--in fact, they quote rather indiscriminately, from Elisabeth Bing to Carlton Fredericks--but they do offer a helpful program.
