This is a collection of stories, poems, and epigrams which instill moral concepts by giving pleasure. Dramatic black and white illustrations by Mary E. Young sustain the tasteful character of these selections, some familiar, some obscure, all of which deal with man's nobility, his potential for lofty action. Compiled with the understanding that young people respond easily to ideals, if they are veiled in attractive settings, there is nothing pedantic about this book, but merely an assumed standard of excellence which in one form or another is made manifest in the fictional characters it reveals.
