THE NATIONAL LEAGUE STORY by Lee Allen

THE NATIONAL LEAGUE STORY

By

Publisher: Hill & Wang

Perhaps the contagion of the season will extend to embrace this book which takes the fans back to the early warring days of baseball almost 85 years ago. Virtually every exciting event, team play or individual, in the National League is touched upon. Really old timers may be nostalgically interested in the last part of the 19th century, but their number is thinning. Today's addicts will relish the stories about the great Giants,- under McGraw, the Chicago Cubs under Frank Chance, the Pittsburgh Pirates under Fred Clark; and some of the outstanding figures such as Mathewson, Honus Wagner, three fingered Brown, all the National League greats, up to the championship teams and last season's figures. Lee Allen, sports announcer and feature writer, is author of of baseball and The Cincinnati Reds.
