KIRKUS REVIEW

The air is like a butterfly/ with frail blue wings./ The happy earth looks at the sky/ and sings."" This closing selection by Joyce Kilmer is representative of the 19 short, soft rhymes--almost all by authors who write specifically for children (Coatsworth, McCord, Aileen Fisher)--that Hopkins has chosen for his Easter celebration. Happy nature is the favorite topic, the Easter rabbit follows, with eggs and goodies also honored and a few non-pious reminders that Christ is risen. Like Hopkins' other holiday collections, seasonal pleasantries, illustrated in kind.
