This placid tale of a country lad's two wishes-- to own a pony and to go to school--, and how they are granted, moves at a slow, uninspired jog. Peter's two-dimensional world becomes more solidly rounded with dreams when he discovers his ad pony is a trick horse. The bland illustrations seem weary; at best they are a otch above stereotyped cartoons. An antiseptic anecdote about a farm boy's fancies.
