THE PARABLES OF JESUS

In this ""popular explanation"" of sixty-eight parables of Jesus, the author aims ""to condense and summarize the commonly accepted interpretations of our Lord's parables as to make them easily accessible to the reader unskilled in biblical lore."" A work of this kind answers a definite need for the average Catholic who listens to or reads the parables of the Gospel and is not seldom puzzled by various ideas or expressions they contain. The author presents the actual text of each parable as it is contained in each of the Evangelists who narrates it and then proceeds to give a short but enlightening explanation in each case. The essential meaning of each parable is what is focussed upon, with some remarks added about further suggested interpretations and applications. Most Catholic readers would be grateful for this handy guide to a better understanding of the parables of the Gospel if their attention is called to it. Imprimatur.
