WHERE NOTHING EVER HAPPENS

A panorama of life in a small California town, where gossip and concern for other people's business are the vital characteristics of the townsfolk. The rich widower with a crippled daughter is pursued by fair means and foul; a secretive woman is attacked by a mob which burns her house and kills her child; a wealthy old woman is murdered; two married couples give food for tongue wagging; a home grown genius gets bad treatment until an outsider gives him praise. All in all, an unprepossessing group of people, with hair trigger tempers, and an aura of smugness.
