This entry in the Building Block series takes a broad look at different types of schools and the educational opportunities they provide. Full-color photographs portray children and adults from different cultures studying at home, via computer, outdoors, and in other locations around the world. The accompanying text reinforces the idea that schools are far more than just physical facilities and that the act of education occurs literally everywhere. A short index of photographs provides more detail about the shots used in the book. This is a generally well done volume, but adults may be surprised by the sight of the traditional card catalog, instead of more up-to-date technology, in a school media center in Indiana.
