KIRKUS REVIEW

That timeless twosome, Peter Clancy, and his gentleman's gentleman, Wiggar, renews in San Francisco some American acquaintances met in England, wealthy Miss Goodhue and her three wards, Walter and Bill Sandford and their sister Nancy, obviously engaged in a clandestine romance. Miss Goodhue's death, her missing necklace, and her very real remaining fortune provide motives, while the identity and intentions of Nancy's suitor are to be clarified. A fabricated finish, and probably more decorous than devious.
