KIRKUS REVIEW

The family are off to Texas with car and trailer in this new adventure tale. Le Grand manages to sprinkle the predominantly comic structure of his story with interesting facts about the desert terrain. Father's bull-headedness leads the family into the usual number of scrapes -- they lose car and trailer -- they get jobs as herders of goats- and Augustus and a Mexican boy prove themselves heroes when they find the lair of a mountain lion and save the herd.
