Little verses about familiar doings or feelings or just beings--somewhere in the country, the city, the mind of make-believe, at home. The rhyme isn't singsong, some of it even swings nicely, but none of the metaphors (night as a blanket) or ideas are startling. John E. Johnson's gentle beige and tangerine sketches are a good complement for the comfy text--gracefully pleasing, not outstanding in this season of fresh young poetry.
