A BRIGHT STAR FALLS

Beany Malone, again, a wholesome, refreshing senior now at Denver's Harkness High. This is a year of new issues, some of them deeply perplexing. There's the effort to inject a more serious tone into the flippant school paper of which she is editor; there's the death of Rosellen Kern, younger sister of Andy, Beany's best beau, and his inconsolable grief which Beany is ill-equipped to assuage; there's her brother's dangerous attraction to a local floozie. Faced with these problems, Beany rallies her forces, and it is a more mature Beany Malone who emerges from an engrossing story.
