CASE WITH FOUR CLOWNS

There's a lot about circus life in England, on the trail of a fortune teller's prophecy of murder to be done, and the crime is not committed until the last third of the book. Meantime, Beef, now a private detective, has fortified himself by intimate knowledge of the performers, their hates and fears, and is able to spot the killer. Amusing and original, but most addicts like their gore early and often.
