Leonard Hall's calendar of the season's pleasures on his Possum Trot Farm in the Missouri Ozarks appeared in the columns of the St. Louis and now in book form- these casual, contemplative pieces will share with a wider audience this life he has found so much to his liking. Rain and drought, clearing acreage and raising crops, buying cattle at auctions- and butchering them, and the many activities on a family-sized farm are only part of his country journal; a nature lover and observer, he comments at random on snipe and wild geese and other waterfowl, on wildflowers and fruits, on insects and pests, on plants and weeds, and on the abundant, changing landscape of the outdoor world. It is a pleasant record, appreciative and unassuming.
