KIRKUS REVIEW

Shortall's easy readers for this publisher feature the most basic of information on such things as skiing, outdoor life, gardening, etc. This one tells the newly independent reader how to get on and off a horse, what they eat, what they shouldn't eat and a little something of all the constant care the horse and his tack require. This is all done through the person Steve, who learns it the hard way, in simple words and attractive pictures, when a neighboring farmer asks for his help with a newly acquired horse and pony. A jog trot for the early grades.
